Well, Monkey didn't even stay awake for the start of the Royal Wedding last night. But she did sleep all the way through to the end of it, so I got to watch it all! It was fun to watch, and I think Kate Middleton looked stunning. Not that I expected her to look anything but. Friends had a party last night, but I find it so hard to go out right on Monkey's bed time, so I stayed home alone. Husband went out with the boys - he has no interest in the Royals! I would have loved to be at the reception and after party for the wedding. What fun! The only thing I don't understand is the ridiculous hats. Since when are women supposed to wear hats on their foreheads? Weird.
Yesterday Monkey and I walked down the street and had coffee with some other mums and bubs. I bought a few second hand books and some flanno sheets, and a gift for a friend, then came home. Nothing too exciting. The "dadadad" is continuing, despite my best efforts at teaching her "mumumum"!
Monkey and I went swimming today, for the first time. Just a half hour dip in the heated indoor pool in town, with some other mum friends. There were also a couple of blokes I know with their daughters, so it must have been the day for it! monkey loved it. No giggles, but a few smiles and wide wonder-filled eyes. She's now sound asleep. I think it must have been exhausting. I didn't put her head under, but maybe we'll practice water over her head in the bath and work up to that. It was really lovely to get in the water. We'll definitely do it again.
I'm so annoyed with the neighbors. They are total scum - broken fence, mailbox, S**t all over the front yard, their kids are constantly terrorizing our dog, stealing flowers from my front yard and hanging off the signposts. They scream abuse at each other and beat each other (so bad I've called the cops before) and scream swear words down the street. Now they have these two dogs, one of which has been roaming the streets for the last week and the other they leave tied up in the front yard with no food or water. They also have a cat who is onto her third litter in only a couple of years and the kittens are under our other neighbors house. They make me so mad. I called the RSPCA but they can't do anything about the cats or the dogs. I'm so glad we're moving as soon as this house sells. I don't want my monkey growing up around scum like that. They totally ruin my day.
I don't know what else to do today. The house is spotless, husband is asleep on the couch, Monkey asleep in her cot, the dog has a doggy-play date going on... I have work I need to do, but that's no appealing! Might work on the menu for the week.
